Digital Prescription Management in Pharma CRM

The digitalization of medical care processes continues to advance – including prescriptions. While in Germany the ePrescription is currently being rolled out nationwide, Switzerland is already one step ahead: digital prescriptions for medical consumables have been part of everyday practice since 2022.

Together with a Swiss client, Pharmakon has developed a fully integrated module for prescription management – embedded in the existing Pharma CRM and specifically tailored to the requirements of collaboration with physicians and medical professionals.

Objective: Less effort – more safety

From the very beginning, the central question was:

How can physician-prescribed materials – such as medical aids or consumables – be integrated into existing sales and supply processes more easily, more securely, and digitally?

The answer is a module that doesn’t treat prescriptions as an exception, but as part of a seamless process. The result:

Fully integrated into the existing CRM
High degree of automation in standard tasks
Secure data transmission via HIN-Mail, the Swiss medical communication system
Digital tagging of prescriptions, to trigger automatic follow-up processes
Interfaces to internal systems, e.g., ERP or warehouse management – for continuous workflows

CRM becomes the control center for the prescription process

By integrating prescription management directly into the CRM, the need for separate systems or manual workarounds is eliminated. This not only saves time, but also reduces sources of error and ensures greater transparency throughout the entire process – from the medical prescription to delivery.

The advantage for companies: All information remains in one place, including direct references to customer data, products, and communication.

Technology proven in practice

The technical foundation for this module does not come from the lab, but directly from practice: the underlying platform was already successfully used for order management of the COVID-19 vaccine in Germany – scalable, robust, and proven under real-time conditions.

Conclusion: Digital, close to physicians, future-oriented

Digital prescription management is more than just document transfer – it’s a key component for more efficient healthcare processes. Pharmakon CRM plays a central role in this: as a digital control hub that intelligently connects sales, prescription, and logistics.
